This one-day Astronomy/Astrophysics Winter School, hosted at the South African
Astronomical Observatory, will introduce participants to current research in cosmology,
galaxy evolution, radio astronomy, and machine learning in astrophysics. The programme will highlight South Africa’s flagship facilities — SALT and MeerKAT — demonstrating how optical and radio data are processed and analysed to address fundamental questions about the structure and evolution of the Universe. A special seminar on the Breakthrough Listen initiative will showcase MeerKAT’s contribution to the search for extraterrestrial
