Description
Natural calcite exhibits different electron trap structures based on the source. This study presents thermoluminescence (TL) and phototransferred thermoluminescence of naturally occurring Zambian calcite. EDS indicated Zambian calcite to comprise calcium, carbon and oxygen. The TL glow curve of the calcite comprised four peaks around 80, 152, 296 and 474 oC respectively labelled as T1, T2, T3 and T4. All the peaks, except T4, were further analysed for dose response, fading and kinetic analysis. The three peaks had linear and supralinear dose response. The electron trap linked to T1 faded with delay time. Phototransferred thermoluminescence (PTTL) with 100 seconds of blue LED illumination showed the reproduction of peak T2. Pulse annealing was applied to reveal donor and acceptor trap during PTTL.
