Description

It will be shown that an explicit treatment of the projectile halo structure within the optical model (OM) provides a more realistic and accurate description of elastic scattering involving weakly bound nuclei. Our approach underlines that, for a reliable description of elastic-scattering observables and reaction dynamics, one should consider the structural properties of halo projectiles in OM analyses. Our approach is validated by verifying the Coulomb-nuclear interference peak suppression in halo configurations of $^8$B and $^{11}$Be projectiles in heavy targets.
