Description
The effective field theory for weakly-bound nuclear halos and clusters, Halo/Cluster EFT for short, hinges on a clear separation of a soft energy scale, associated with the weak binding, from a hard energy scale associated with the binding of the core or each constituent of the cluster. That allows a combination of quantum field theory formalism and few-body techniques to describe, in a systematic and model-independent way, low energy processes related to these weakly-bound systems. These features are of prime importance concerning a couple of astrophysical reactions, that takes place at extremely low energies, beyond the reach of nowadays experimental facilities. Halo/Cluster EFT can thus provide a reliable extrapolation of experimental data, at relative high energies, down to the low energy region of interest. In this talk I will highlight a few of these reactions, their importance in the nuclear astrophysics context, and some recent results and works in progress.
