Description

The structure of weakly-bound halo projectile nucleus is taken into account within the standard optical model. This achieved by constructing the nucleus-nucleus potential by means of the double-folding formalism where the projectile density is obtained from its ground-state wave function. This wave function contains the static structure of the ground-state. The obtained nucleus-nucleus potential has a long tail and the resulting scattering cross sections exhibit a suppressed Coulomb-nuclear interference peak. This is a signature of scattering cross sections in reactions induced by weakly-bound nuclei.
